Sandy Hook Migration Watch 2004

The Sandy Hook Migration Watch, conducted by the Sandy Hook Bird Observatory of the New Jersey Audubon Society, continued in 2004 daily from March 15 to May 15.

The raptor total for 2004 was 2,434.  For a comparison with earlier years, see the Sandy Hook Hawk Watch History for total counts and the Sandy Hook Hawk Watch Species Records.

Visitors are welcome at the Migration Watch site. See the Site Guide for directions and general information about the count.

In 2004 the last day of the Watch coincided with the World Series of Birding, so counter Bob Fogg was joined by Mike Fahey of the American Littoral Society for a 24-hour Big Sit at the Observation Platform.  See their report for an account of this adventure.
